July Competition Terms and Conditions
BIG JULY DROP - OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES
This is a promotional competition as defined in section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA"). No purchase is necessary to enter — a free entry route is available (see clause 3A). Purchases of Detail Ease products earn additional entries.
By entering, you agree to these Rules as a binding agreement. Nothing in these Rules is intended to exclude, limit, or waive any right you have under the CPA or other applicable South African law. Please read these Rules before entering.
1. ELIGIBILITY
The Big July Drop ("Competition") is open to natural persons who are legal residents of the Republic of South Africa and at least 18 (eighteen) years of age at the date of entry. Internet access and a valid email address are required. Proof of age, identity, and residency may be requested before the Prize is awarded.
The following persons may not enter, as required by section 36(3) of the CPA: directors, members, partners, employees, agents, or consultants of Detail Ease ("Promoter"), any supplier of goods or services in connection with the Competition, and any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Promoter — together with the spouses, life partners, business partners, and immediate family members of any such person. "Immediate family" means spouse/partner, parents, guardians, in-laws, grandparents, siblings, children, and grandchildren.
If a single household enters using more than five (5) unique email addresses, all entries from that household may be disqualified at the Promoter's discretion. "Household" means people sharing a residence for at least three (3) months a year.
By entering, you agree to follow these Rules and accept the Promoter's decisions — including its interpretation of the Rules and the winner-selection process described below — as final, subject to your rights under applicable law.
2. COMPETITION PERIOD
The Competition runs from 3 July 2026 at 00:00 South African Standard Time (SAST, UTC+2) until 31 July 2026 at 23:59 SAST (the "Competition Period"). The Promoter's clock is the official timekeeper. Entries and qualifying purchases must be completed within the Competition Period.
3. HOW TO ENTER
There are three (3) ways to earn entries. No payment or consideration beyond the ordinary price of goods is required for any entry route.
3A. EMAIL SIGN-UP (FREE ENTRY)
Complete the designated Competition entry form at www.detailease.co.za with all required information, including your full name and email address, and subscribe to the Promoter's newsletter. You will receive one (1) entry. No purchase required. Email addresses may not be shared between entrants; using multiple identities or addresses to exceed entry limits will void those entries and may result in disqualification.
3B. ONLINE PURCHASES
During the Competition Period, every R20 (twenty Rand) spent on Detail Ease products at www.detailease.co.za earns one (1) entry. Entries are calculated on the value of eligible Detail Ease products only, excluding shipping, credits, and discounts. Entries are allocated automatically to the email address used at checkout. If a purchase is returned or refunded before the draw, the associated entries are voided.
No fraud. Purchasing items with the intention of returning them after the draw constitutes fraud. If the Promoter identifies or reasonably suspects fraudulent activity, the entrant will be disqualified and barred from future Promoter competitions.
3C. RETAIL PURCHASES
If you purchased Detail Ease products from a retail store (including Builders Warehouse) during the Competition Period, email a clear photograph or copy of your receipt, together with your full name, email address, contact number, and physical address (no P.O. Boxes), to competition@detailease.co.za, or upload it via the Competition page where that option is available. Only Detail Ease products appearing on the receipt count toward entries, at the same rate of one (1) entry per R20 spent. Receipts must be dated within the Competition Period and must be received by the Promoter before the Competition closes. Receipts are subject to verification, and duplicate or altered receipts will be rejected.
Each entry must include all requested information. A confirmation message on the website is not proof of receipt by the Promoter. Entries submitted via third-party services, automation, scripts, or bots are void. The Promoter is not responsible for technical issues or for incorrect, incomplete, or illegible contact information, to the extent permitted by law.
4. DRAW AND ODDS
One (1) potential winner will be selected on or about 4 August 2026 by way of a random draw from all valid entries received. The draw will be conducted and/or verified under the oversight of an independent person (an accountant, registered auditor, admitted attorney, or advocate) as contemplated by the regulations to section 36 of the CPA. Odds of winning depend on the total number of valid entries received.
5. WINNER NOTIFICATION AND PRIZE CLAIM
The potential winner will be contacted by telephone and/or email within a reasonable time after the draw, using the contact information provided at entry. The Promoter will make reasonable attempts to reach the potential winner. The Promoter is not responsible for failed delivery, unanswered calls, or incorrect or outdated contact information provided by the entrant.
The potential winner must respond and confirm acceptance of the Prize within three (3) days of first successful notification, and must complete and return a Declaration of Eligibility and Prize Acceptance Agreement (the "Declaration") within the period specified by the Promoter. If the potential winner cannot be reached after reasonable attempts, does not respond within three (3) days, is ineligible, or declines the Prize, the Prize is forfeited and an alternate winner will be drawn — up to three (3) alternates, after which the Prize may go unawarded.
The potential winner is confirmed as the "Winner" only after the Promoter verifies eligibility. Only one (1) Prize will be awarded, in respect of one (1) vehicle only.
The Winner will not be required to pay any amount, or provide any consideration, to claim or receive the Prize.
6. PRIZE
The Prize is a Paint Protection Film (PPF) vehicle makeover to the value of up to R75,000 (seventy-five thousand Rand), performed by DE Detailing, comprising:
- Full-vehicle PPF in the Winner's choice of gloss, matte, or colour PPF;
- Paint correction and polishing prior to film application;
- Stone chip repairs as reasonably required to prepare the paintwork;
- A full-vehicle ceramic coating; and
- Vehicle transport to and from the Promoter's facility from anywhere within the Republic of South Africa, by vehicle carrier where required. Transport costs form part of, and are included within, the R75,000 Prize value.
The Prize expressly excludes any spray-painting, panel-beating, or bodywork of any kind.
Vehicle condition requirement. The nominated vehicle must be in a condition suitable for PPF application, as assessed by the Promoter. Vehicles with excessive stone chips, failing or damaged paintwork, or paint in a condition that makes PPF application inadvisable do not qualify. If the nominated vehicle does not qualify, the Winner may nominate one (1) alternative vehicle belonging to the Winner or a member of the Winner's immediate family. If no suitable vehicle is nominated, or if the Winner declines the Prize, the Prize is forfeited and an alternate winner may be drawn in accordance with clause 5.
The approximate retail value of the Prize is R75,000.00. The actual value delivered may vary with vehicle size and condition; any difference between the approximate and actual value will not be paid out in cash or otherwise.
The Prize is non-transferable and has no cash equivalent, and no substitution is permitted except at the Promoter's discretion. If the Promoter is unable to deliver the Prize for reasons beyond its control, it may award a comparable substitute of equivalent value. Any unused portion of the Prize is forfeited.
Nothing in this clause limits any warranty or guarantee implied by the CPA in respect of services actually rendered.
7. PUBLICITY
In accordance with section 36(11) of the CPA, the Winner is not required to participate in any marketing or publicity activity as a condition of receiving the Prize. The Promoter may invite the Winner to take part in publicity related to the Competition (including photographs, video, and posts on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube), and the Winner's participation is voluntary and subject to the Winner's express consent. The Winner may decline without affecting their entitlement to the Prize.
8. SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM DISCLAIMER
This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook (Meta Platforms, Inc.), TikTok (ByteDance Ltd.), or YouTube (Google LLC) (collectively, "Social Platforms"). Any questions, comments, or complaints regarding the Competition must be directed to the Promoter and not to any Social Platform. Entrants acknowledge they are providing information to the Promoter and not to any Social Platform. Any information collected from entrants is used as stated in these Rules and the Promoter's Privacy Policy.
9. FORCE MAJEURE AND MODIFICATION
If the Competition is disrupted by events outside the Promoter's reasonable control — including fire, flood, epidemic, load-shedding or extended power/network failure, equipment or service failure, civil unrest, war, government action, or interference by any party — the Promoter may modify, suspend, or terminate it to the extent permitted by law. The Promoter may also modify, suspend, or terminate the Competition if anything corrupts its integrity, security, or proper administration. If terminated early, the Promoter may award the Prize by random draw among valid, non-suspect entries received before the disruption. Any material change to these Rules will be published at www.detailease.co.za.
10. CONDUCT
The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who violates or is reasonably suspected of violating these Rules, behaving disruptively, harassing others, or tampering with the entry process — and to void all related entries. Any attempt to damage or undermine the legitimate operation of the Competition may violate criminal and civil law, and the Promoter reserves the right to pursue all available remedies.
11. DISCLAIMERS
To the extent permitted by law (including the CPA), the Promoter is not responsible or liable for: (a) lost, late, undelivered, inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, misdirected, damaged, or garbled entries or communications; (b) inaccurate entry information or failed transmissions; (c) unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries; (d) technical failures of any equipment, network, or service involved; (e) unavailability of the internet or website; or (f) loss or damage to any device related to participation.
If the Competition cannot run as planned due to virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or other causes corrupting its integrity, the Promoter may cancel, modify, or suspend it to the extent permitted by law, and may award the Prize by random draw among valid entries received up to that point.
12. RELEASE AND INDEMNITY
To the extent permitted by law, by entering you release and indemnify the Promoter and its directors, officers, employees, agents, successors, and assigns from claims, costs, losses, or damages arising from: (i) participation in the Competition; (ii) receipt, ownership, use, or misuse of the Prize (including vehicle transport); or (iii) any error in printing, offering, or announcing the Competition or Prize — except to the extent such claim arises from the gross negligence or wilful misconduct of the Promoter, or where such release or indemnity is prohibited by the CPA or other applicable law.
13. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
These Rules are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
To the extent permitted by law, disputes arising from this Competition will first be addressed directly with the Promoter, and failing resolution, may be referred to arbitration administered under the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA) rules before a sole arbitrator seated in the Republic of South Africa. Nothing in this clause prevents an entrant from exercising any right under the CPA, including referring a matter to the National Consumer Commission or the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, or from bringing a qualifying claim in the small claims court.
14. PRIVACY
Personal information collected from entrants will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the Promoter's Privacy Policy at www.detailease.co.za. By entering, you consent to the Promoter processing your personal information for the purposes of administering the Competition, verifying entries, contacting the winner, and complying with applicable law. Marketing communications are subject to your separate consent given at entry and may be withdrawn at any time. If the Privacy Policy and these Rules conflict in respect of the Competition, these Rules apply.
15. RULES AVAILABILITY AND RECORDS
A copy of these Rules is available free of charge at www.detailease.co.za and on written request to competition@detailease.co.za. The Promoter will retain these Rules and the records of the Competition (including entries, the draw record, and the independent oversight certification) for a period of at least three (3) years, as required by the CPA regulations.
16. MISCELLANEOUS
If any part of these Rules is found invalid or unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect. The Promoter's failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. Headings are for convenience only. If anything in marketing materials or social posts conflicts with these Rules, these Rules prevail.
17. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT AND WINNER LIST
The Winner will be announced during the first week of August 2026 on the Promoter's website and/or social media channels. For the Winner's name, send a written request by email to competition@detailease.co.za with the subject line "Winner List Request — Big July Drop," to be received within thirty (30) days of the winner announcement.
